Leisure at the Lyceum
Leisure at the Lyceum takes its name from the school founded by Aristotle in Athens in the 4th century BC. Students, faculty, parents, and community members gather together to hear and discuss a wide range of topics, from ethics and politics to metaphysics and theology. So, too, we aim to make accessible to Pacifica’s wider community the riches of our philosophy and theology curriculum through leisurely gatherings guided by experts hosted throughout the year. Through public events and online offerings, we hope to encourage substantive conversation on topics that matter by challenging assumptions, deepening faith, and encouraging public engagement. The goal is to bring together what is being torn apart by practicing intellectual hospitality and pursuing truth wherever it may lead.
